My Story

I’m Dr. Roxanne Daleo.

When I was a little girl, I was given an IQ test at school. The results suggested I had limited potential.

I still remember sitting in the front of the classroom during reading time. Our teacher thought it clever to name the groups: The Planes, Trains and Boats. Although I was very young, I quickly understood I was in the slow group—the Boats. My eyes stayed fixed on the page, I did not look up, I was too busy struggling to sound out words while wondering why learning seemed so difficult for me.

What no one understood was that anxiety was interfering with my ability to learn—not my intelligence.

That experience shaped my life’s work.

I discovered that the brain can change. Confidence can be cultivated. Imagination can become a powerful tool for healing rather than fear.

Over the years, I learned how to rewire my own brain through mind-body practices, creativity, and inner awareness. Eventually, I graduated from Harvard University with honors.

Today, I help children and parents discover that anxiety is not a measure of intelligence, potential, or worth. When we learn how to work with the mind and imagination, remarkable change becomes possible.

By combining evidence-based mind-body medicine, expressive arts, guided imagery, and decades of clinical experience, I help families reduce anxiety, build confidence, unlock creativity, and discover strengths they never knew they possessed that last a life time.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to be seen for who they truly are—not defined by a test score, a diagnosis, or a difficult moment.

Here, you’ll discover the inner resources that can transform challenges into confidence—that stay with you for a lifetime. The little girl who was once told she had limited potential went on to graduate from Harvard University with honors. More importantly, she discovered that every child possesses hidden strengths waiting to be awakened. Today, that discovery is the foundation of everything I teach.

Testimonial

“From the first time I opened it for my kids, they sat or rested in their spaces and listened. I believe it’s never too soon to teach children how to help themselves work with their emotions and to be kind to others. Dr. Roxanne I can’t thank you enough for sharing your gift with the world. I wish you well.”

— Jacqueline M., Cambridge, MA

“I wanted to tell you my impressions of how your work has made a difference in our family life: it has provided our children with strategies to recognize, understand and manage their own emotions more effectively; has enabled us, as parents, to be more in tune with ‘what’s up for the kids’ and confident about how to help them navigate their own emotions; has provided each member of the family with specific tools and tactics to anticipate problems and modify behaviors before a ‘meltdown’ occurs; has allowed us the opportunity to engage in a unique dialog with our sons’ teachers and nanny; and has unearthed happier, less anxious, more confident little boys. Again, many thanks, Dr. Roxanne.”

— Karen R., Parent & Senior Manager, D. Consulting LLP

After five sessions with Dr. Roxie, she asks her 8-year-old client Tommy, who came in with obsessive worry thoughts that haunted him, “How do you think you are doing today?”

“I’m doing excellently!” he exclaims.

“How do you know?” asks Dr. Roxie.

“Because I don’t worry as much as I used to… I feel free!”

— Tommy, age 8

“I love the way you used story and music (From a Grain of Sand) to teach kids self esteem, managing disappointment, handling feelings, and becoming a resource unto themselves. The idea of ‘pearling’ is so good — taking an irritating thought and transforming it inside yourself! Clever lady! The tune is very catchy, the healing message something kids can sing in their heads again and again…bravissima! This is your masterpiece!”
